Diversity DVD shortlisted for media award
A new DVD training guide - Respect the Difference Value the Mix – which examines diversity issues within a workplace context, has been shortlisted in the Best Interactive Media product category at the International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) Clarion Awards.
Produced by GoSkills, the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for Passenger Transport, the DVD has been designed to promote discussion of diversity issues amongst employers, trainers and operators within the passenger transport sector and in non-passenger transport organisations.
Carole Essex, GoSkills' commercial manager, commented: "This year the competition between entrants was intense so to get shortlisted at all is an amazing achievement. When you consider the list of previous nominations and winners, it really is a fantastic achievement for GoSkills to be up there with some very large organisations."
Respect the Difference Value the Mix was filmed by Hampshire-based digital new media consultancy DVA , in association with GoSkills, and features analysis from Dr Carol Woodhams, senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School and Karen Waltham from Learning to Earning.
Lindsay Walsh, senior producer at DVA , said: "Our solution to GoSkills' communication objectives utilised the interactive nature of DVD as an intrinsic part of the delivery, which is ideal from a trainer's perspective. We wanted to challenge the viewer's assumptions regarding Diversity issues from the outset. This was done through live characters in an interactive main menu, automatically engaging the viewer in the decision making immediately and heightening the impact of the resource."
The IVCA Clarion Awards show is scheduled to take place at the British Film Institute Southbank, London on 28 September 2007.
