University to host coaching and mentoring research day
Sheffield Hallam University is holding a Coaching and Mentoring Research Day on February 9th 2005. The event is being hosted jointly by the university's Mentoring and Coaching Research Unit and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).
Organiser Dr Bob Garvey said almost half the available places had already been booked and urged anyone who wanted to reserve a place to act fast.
"It's a great opportunity for people to discuss their research ideas or proposals, present their research or simply catch up with what's happening in research. It's also a good opportunity to network with practitioners, consultants and researchers in the field," he said.
The agenda for each Coaching and Mentoring Research Day is created by the people who attend, making each one unique. So far, topics for the February 9th event will include:
According to Dr Garvey, the last Mentoring and Coaching Research Day was a great success. "We had coaches and mentors from the business, health service and education sectors there and it was a great opportunity to explore the differences and similarities between coaching and mentoring in these different fields," he said.
The standard fee is £100 with special rates for EMCC members of £50, and £25 for postgraduate students. The fee includes refreshments and lunch.
