Taxi drivers sign up for BTEC qualification

Fifty Hackney & Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) drivers in Birmingham have signed up for a qualification being offered by South Birmingham College and Birmingham City Council in partnership with GoSkills, the sector skills council for Passenger Transport.

The BTEC Level 2 qualification - Transporting Passengers by Taxi or PHV - is designed to give drivers the opportunity to access a range of skills development such as customer service, equal opportunities and disability awareness.

This pilot course, and all subsequent courses, will run for two hours per week for 12 weeks. Material is provided for self-learning and sessions are held during quiet times to suit drivers.
