Home > News > August 2005 > 23-Aug-2005 CIPD launches new certificate in coaching and mentoring The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has developed a new Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring that aims to help managers develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a highly effective coach and mentor. According to the CIPD, almost three quarters (72%) of organisations use mentoring schemes and 88% now expect their line managers to deliver coaching as part of their day-to-day work. They add that the vast majority of employers believe coaching can deliver tangible benefits to both individuals and organisations, and 82% report that formal mentoring schemes are one of most effective development activities. The new Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring has been developed using the CIPD’s Standards in Coaching and Mentoring. The CIPD are holding an open evening for prospective students of the CIPD Coaching Certificates, on the 12th October 2005.
