New research to be previewed at coaching conference

New research on coaching workplace teams will be presented by David Clutterbuck at the Oxford School of Coaching and Mentoring (OSC&M)'s 8th Annual Conference this June.

The OSC&M says Clutterbuck will address a number of issues during his presentation including:

  • How team coaching differs from one-to-one coaching
  • How the skills and competencies a team coach needs differ from a one-to-one coach
  • The differences between team coaching and team facilitation
  • How to achieve the ultimate goal of team coaching - when the team coaches itself

The conference will also include two practical demonstrations on coaching. The first will be conducted by Professor Michael Carroll, who will explore power relationships in coaching and mentoring and ask questions such as who has the power in a coaching relationship; how do power and coaching connect; and does disempowerment cripple or stop learning?

Professor Carroll is Fellow of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and his session is the conference keynote.

The second of the practical demonstrations will be given by OSC&M's chief executive Eric Parsloe, who will be coaching a young manager.

The OSC&M Conference will also feature two case studies. Jill Lewis from Pfizer will be revealing the current findings of a programme to provide individualised support and coaching for 600 patients suffering from diabetes, heart failure and coronary heart disease. In addition, Liam Black from Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Foundation programme will be examining the potential of coaching and mentoring with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The OSC&M 8th Annual Practical Perspectives Conference 2006 takes place on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th June 2006 at the Oxford Hotel, Oxford.
