AV National Skills Day returns for third year

Thursday 24 May 2007 is the third annual National Skills Day for the audio visual industries.

Skillset, the sector skills council for the audio visual industries, and partners Broadcast, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, five, Pact and BECTU, launched National Skills Day with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of skills, development and career progression to the future of the industry.

Last year activities organised included:

  • Job shadowing at SMG
  • Editing, website design and stand up comedy at S4C
  • Blogging and digital switchover workshops at Channel 4
  • The Art of Being Brilliant workshops by BECTU at LWT
  • Work experience on fives 'Milkshake!'
  • Online career development sessions at the BBC
  • High Definition lighting and camera masterclasses at the London Film Academy
  • Roadmap to Podcasting and DVD authoring workshops at VET
  • Business planning advice for new start ups at Focus West
  • Media production seminars and networking at Wiltshire College
