CIPR qualifications get City & Guilds approval

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has announced a new partnership with vocational awarding body City & Guilds.

As part of the agreement, City & Guilds has given seal of approval to the Institute's Advanced Certificate in Public Relations, a qualification aimed at postgraduate students who are keen on working in public relations and those who have just started their PR careers.

The Advanced Certificate in Public Relations will now be awarded as a joint certificate, issued by City & Guilds.

CIPR director general Colin Farrington said: "We're delighted that City & Guilds has approved our Advanced Certificate in Public Relations, recognising it as a leading qualification for those who want to get on the PR career ladder and those in the early stages of working in the industry.

"The CIPR views its professional qualifications and training as key to raising the professional standards of the industry, providing PR practitioners with the essential theory and practical knowledge to do their day to day jobs effectively."

Keith Brooker, City & Guilds director, said: "Our agreement with the CIPR highlights our growing reputation among leading professional institutes and builds on our work of recognising and approving in-house, sector-specific qualifications.

"As a qualification offered by the UK's leading public relations body, it is vital that students and practitioners alike are aware that the course has been externally verified and approved by a creditable name, such as City & Guilds."
