Scope launches disability equality training toolkit
Disability organisation Scope has launched a training toolkit to help businesses support disabled customers.
Scope's Interactive Disability Equality Training (iDET) toolkit is designed to be delivered as an in-house training programme and contains a DVD, a CD-ROM of training slides and exercises, a Trainer's Learning Manual and trainee workbook.
In addition to the iDET toolkit, Scope also offer face-to-face disability equality training.
Robin Davies, sales and marketing manager - access and diversity at Scope, said: "Scope's iDET package is flexible, clearly structured and non-patronising. We realised that particularly in sectors where staff can be transient and work to shorter contracts, external training is not cost effective. Scope's new product can be delivered at the employer's convenience.
"The important thing to remember is that this is not a politically-correct ‘add-on'. There are very real legal duties for businesses to get it right for disabled customers, which Scope can offer an affordable solution to."
The charity also plans to introduce an iDET online version for organisations requiring an individual approach to employee training. This product is expected to be ready for retail in March 2007.
Scope will be holding free introductory workshops in London on Thursday 15 and Tuesday 27 March, and Manchester on Friday 23 and Wednesday 28 March, to demonstrate the iDET Toolkit.
