Acas say the new office, located on the Waterfront Business Park in Fleet, will offer services to businesses and their staff right across Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight . Acas will offer existing courses at the new location, including 'Employment Law Updates' and 'Discipline and Grievance'. These will be supplemented by new courses: 'Employment Tribunals and How to Avoid Them' and 'How to Conduct Staff Investigations'. And in the autumn the Acas South East England Employers Forum will be launched. John Taylor, chief executive of Acas, and Paul Beard, Acas southern area director, were joined by James Arbuthnot, MP for North East Hampshire, and representatives of surrounding local authorities, employers, trade unions and business organisations at the launch event. Paul Beard said: "According to a recent report, the economic cost associated with employment tribunal claims is almost £20,000 per year for every employing organisation, whilst employers spend an average of 15 days of management time dealing with each claim. Our vastly improved facilities and expanded range of courses and mediation services will enable us to help employers and employees avoid such disputes in the first place."
