New CompTIA Convergence+ certification now available

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) has announced that its newest certification, CompTIA Convergence+, is now available worldwide.

CompTIA Convergence+ certification aims to help information technology (IT) and communications professionals expand their skills beyond data-only or voice-only capabilities so they are qualified to support and maintain the new methods of communicating made possible by convergence technology solutions.

CompTIA says the credential validates knowledge and skill in the area of communications technologies where data, voice, video, and broadcast multimedia technologies are combined in a single IP-based delivery system.

John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA, said: "Organisations believe that convergence solutions will provide them with enormous flexibility to manage and administer voice and data networks together; to boost efficiency; and to contain costs.

"To turn these beliefs into reality, our industry must develop a workforce capable of helping customers maximise the benefits and opportunities made possible by the delivery of data, voice and multimedia over the same network.

"CompTIA Convergence+ was developed at the urging of the convergence industry," Venator added. "This certification fills a void and a need for an industry-accepted credential that validates foundation-level skills for IT and communications professionals working with these emerging technologies."
