Learning system helps access to learning at BT

According to Docent Inc., BT is achieving significant benefits in productivity and access to learning through the use of the Docent Learning Management Server. Docent says the system supports more than 117,000 users across the UK.

Working with Docent partner Accenture in the UK, BT selected Docent Enterprise to power BT Academy, a single, federated learning system designed to propagate learning across the organisation.

Docent says that Docent Enterprise has enabled BT to deliver more than 70 percent of its curriculum online - up from 30 percent prior to Docent. BT users have completed more than 600,000 course sessions on topics such as sales training; business skills; risk management; safety and compliance; computing and IT; and customer service.

"Our aim is to enable easier access to learning such that our people can provide excellent customer service, and Docent is a major factor in helping to achieve this mission," said David Slingo, head of the BT Academy. "The Docent LMS has now proved its contribution in our business over the last two years in supporting the BT Academy. With greater knowledge-sharing about our products and business processes, we can speed our time-to-market, improve service to customers, strengthen employee recruitment and retention, and drive regulatory compliance."

"Docent has built a strong presence in telecommunications given our unparalleled ability to help the leading providers maintain their competitive edge and assure compliance with complex government regulations," said Jan Vels Jensen, VP EMEA Marketing and Alliances. "We take great pride in the success and record savings that BT is achieving using Docent."
