Training, learning & development awards

Awards can be a great way to gain recognition for the work your training department is doing or to use as part of a quality assessment for potential suppliers. On this page:

The National Training Awards

The National Training Awards (NTA) are designed to recognise organisations and individuals that have achieved lasting excellence through training. The National Training Awards are managed by UK Skills and are open to organisations and individuals across all sectors and sizes of organisation.

In 2005, over 700 entries were whittled down to 223 finalists. The finalists then attended awards ceremonies throughout October 2005, to discover if they had won a training award for their area or a national award.

The 57 national award winners that were chosen then attended a ceremony in November 2005, where 10 of them were presented with Special National Training Awards for outstanding achievement through training and development. These included Nando's Chickenland Ltd, BP Chemicals with Hull College and Tube Lines Ltd with Advantage Performance Training Ltd.

Personal Achievement Awards will be awarded to apprentices in the 16-18 and 19-24 age categories who have successfully overcome barriers to achievement.

In addition to the Apprentices' awards, employers can enter one of four categories, depending on company size, they are Micro (for 1-9 employees), Small (10-49 employees), Medium (50-249 employees) and Large (250+ employees).

They are assessed on a number of criteria including implementation of the Apprenticeship programme, clear demonstration of the way Apprenticeships have benefited their business and the level of support provided to their apprentices.
