City & Guilds signs deal with the Chartered Insurance Institute
City & Guilds and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) have joined forces to provide a development and training package for employees within the insurance and financial services sectors.
The two organisations aim to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for over 90,000 CII members encompassing professional and support staff. The package will include management development and soft skills awards covering everything from customer services, IT and business administration to team leading and strategic management and will count towards credits in the CII qualifications structure.
According to Chris Humphries, director-general at City & Guilds, his organisation is well placed to offer an extensive range of services that complement the CII’s technical insurance, mortgage and financial service qualifications. "By working closely with the CII, we will be developing a comprehensive package of services to upskill the insurance and financial services workforce and improve services to CII members."
Dr Sandy Scott , director general of the Chartered Insurance Institute said, "This is a huge step forward for the Institute which will deliver real benefit to our customers. City & Guilds is a highly respected organisation and a leading player in the workforce development arena and will ensure that we provide an extremely professional, secure and market leading service. City & Guilds’ qualifications will attract credits in the CII qualifications structure and we are now able to respond to any financial services companies skills needs."
Integral to the agreement is the introduction of online examinations at over 2,000 centres throughout the UK and overseas. The CII are looking to to offer its multiple choice examinations on demand, with results available instantly, via the City & Guilds network of exam centres.
Both bodies are also committed to establishing a Faculty of Management for CII members through the Institute of Leadership and Management which is part of the City & Guilds Group. The Faculty would deliver management courses and publications primarily at supervisory, junior and middle managers.
