Thomson NETg win Canon Europe e-learning contract
Thomson NETg has won a contract with Canon Europe to provide 11,000 employees across Europe, the Middle East and Africa with e-Learning in professional and IT skills.
Thomson NETg's e-Learning is deployed via MyLearningZone, Canon Europe's existing Learning Management System (LMS). Through the LMS, employees can gain access to a range of Thomson NETg courses including strategic management, leadership skills, communication skills, Lotus Notes, Office XP, Oracle and CompTIA. The courses are available in many different languages including French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese.
Dominic Chiappe, European e-Learning Manager at Canon Europe commented: "The implementation of the new learning solution was extremely fast, taking just a few weeks to install, primarily due to Thomson NETg's unified learning environment. As the company's content is interoperable with many industry standard Learning Management Systems, Canon Europe was only required to integrate its existing LMS once in order to roll out all of Thomson NETg's IT and professional courses across a single learning platform quickly and easily."
"e-Learning enables employees to learn exactly what they need, when they need it, allowing skills to be continually updated to meet the evolving needs of a business," added Chiappe. "For a pan-European organisation such as Canon the provision of learning in multiple languages is extremely important."
Online learning currently forms around 20% of all learning at Canon Europe and the company plans to increase this to about 40% by the end of 2006. The Thomson NETg e-Learning solution will be used alongside classroom-based training, books, videos and other training methods to create blended learning solutions.
