Four "outstanding" grades awarded to NG Bailey

Building services contractor NG Bailey is celebrating its success after being awarded a grade 1 “outstanding” in four areas of learning by the government’s Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI).

NG Bailey, which has its main training base in Leeds, received the grade 1’s for its specialist Construction Programme and for its approach to leadership and management, quality assurance and for overall effectiveness.

Alison Ashworth-Brown, Head of Craft and Vocational Training at NG Bailey said: "For us it reflects the value of training we have been doing for the last fifty years not just the last four. It also shows the value, not just in monetary terms, that the company places on training which is an important part of our business strategy."

Founded in 1921, NG Bailey has over 22 regional offices across the UK and offers modern apprenticeships in engineering, crafts and construction. The firm currently has over 220 modern apprentices.

Learner David Short, an electrical apprentice in his fourth year said his course had been a "real eye-opener" which had instilled in him tremendous confidence and enabled him to carry out work of a high standard.

Junior mechanical apprentice Jamie Leonard said: "We get very in-depth and detailed theory and practical lessons, and that there is always someone at hand to help in any situation."

Nicky Perry, Director of Inspection at the ALI, said: "NG Bailey are an example of a training provider that is doing an exemplary job in training the electricians, gas fitters and telecommunications engineers of the future.

"The construction industry is booming and will depend on training providers like NG Bailey to support the predicted construction demands in the housing, health, heritage, education and transport sectors. The learners and the sector will really benefit from this organisation’s outstanding approach."
